Counselling

Types of Counselling Available

I offer short- and long-term counselling sessions for children, young people and adults.

Face to face counselling

My practice is based at the Southcote Proactive Healthcare Centre (3 Sittingbourne Rd, Maidstone ME14 5ES; please see website: https://www.southcote.com/laura-szorady). Each session will last 50 minutes and will be scheduled on a weekly basis (same day, same time) to build up consistency, unless agreed otherwise.

Online Video Counselling

Online video Apps such as Zoom, Skype and Jane allow counselling to be even more accessible from the comfort of your own home. They are secure and encrypted platforms to maintain confidentiality at all times. If you are not comfortable with technology, not a problem at all. I can guide you through it all and once it’s set up then weekly sessions will be scheduled and will last 50 minutes. Similar way of working as if it was face to face but instead creating a safe visual space where you can express yourself without fear of judgement. Please note working with children/young people online will be assessed on a case by case basis.

Working with children and young people

I offer play-therapy techniques when working with children. These sessions are predominantly child-led and a selection of creative materials, e.g. toys, crayons and sand are used enabling the child to learn how to express and deal with challenging feelings and make sense of difficulties.

An Initial Assessment is required with a parent/caregiver (lasting up to 50 minutes) prior to meeting the child/young person. I will contact you to arrange a most suitable time to arrange the assessment, which will allow me to gather some detailed information/background about the child/young person and to answer any and all questions you might have regarding the therapeutic process. Once a day/time has been agreed during this meeting, I will meet the child/young person separately and the counselling process will commence. I will make it very clear to the child/young person that the session is confidential but they can share anything about their sessions that they see fit.
